Choosing LiDAR for indoor and outdoor autonomy
Define the operating environment
Specify whether the sensor will work indoors, outdoors or in both environments. Ambient light, weather, dust and target reflectivity can affect sensing performance. Compare specifications under the conditions stated by the manufacturer.
Match the sensor to the platform
Check scan coverage, required measurement distance, update rate, interface and power. Confirm mechanical mounting and driver compatibility with the robot or host computer.
Validate before scaling
Test a sample in the intended environment before a bulk deployment. Include any interface adapters, cables and mounting accessories in your quotation request.
